Lakeland is building a new electrical facility on Glendale Street

City of Lakeland records show a new electrical building going up at 1825 Glendale Street, valued at about $1 million, along with two site generators ($250,000) and a new fuel tank ($50,000). Vogel Bros Building Co is the building contractor on the project, with roofing, mechanical and electrical subcontractors also listed on the file. The property is owned by the City of Lakeland.

The building and generator permits were issued in October 2025, and the fuel tank permit was issued in July 2026. A separate permit to reroof an on-site substation was filed in late 2025 but has expired. Together the records point to work on a city-owned electrical/substation site rather than a commercial or retail use.

A separate FDOT item, the Glendale Street Trail from New Jersey Road to Lakeland Highlands Road, is grouped with this location but is a distinct bike-path project (adopted, not begun).
