Aldi is moving into the old Winn-Dixie on Socrum Loop Road
A former Winn-Dixie in North Lakeland is being retrofitted into an Aldi grocery store.
The grocery store at 6600 Socrum Loop Road North is being converted from a Winn-Dixie into an Aldi. City permit records describe the main project as a retrofit of the existing Winn-Dixie store, with a $2 million commercial building permit issued in June 2026 and a separate early-start interior demolition permit issued in May.
A wave of related work is underway: new Aldi wall and face-change signs, a roof recover, electrical work for the store (listed as Aldi #318 / Aldi #0664), and fire alarm and sprinkler permits. All of these carry the same parcel and are owned by the Teachers' Retirement System of the State of Kentucky.
A Planned Unit Development application tied to "Aldi #0664" was filed in January 2026 but later withdrawn, so the reuse is proceeding through building permits on the existing store rather than a new zoning approval.
