Aldi is taking over the old Winn-Dixie on Socrum Loop
A former Winn-Dixie in North Lakeland is being retrofitted into an Aldi grocery store.
Permits show the vacant Winn-Dixie #664 at 6600 Socrum Loop Road N is being converted into an Aldi grocery store. A $2 million commercial remodel permit was issued in June 2026 to retrofit the existing store, following an early-start interior demolition permit in May.
Since then, the project has picked up a steady run of permits: Aldi wall and face-change signs, a roof recover, electrical work, and fire alarm and sprinkler systems β all tied to descriptions naming "Aldi" (store #318 and #0664). The building sits on a parcel owned by the Teachers' Retirement System of the State of Kentucky.
An earlier Planned Unit Development application for the site, described as "Aldi #0664 - Lakeland FL," was withdrawn. The work is moving ahead through building permits instead.
