Amazon's MCO5 sortation center on Deen Still Road is getting a round of upgrades
Where it is. On East Deen Still Road in northeast Polk.
Amazon's existing MCO5 sortation center off Deen Still Road is adding conveyor equipment, a new guardhouse, a new driveway and safety improvements.
The Amazon sortation center known as MCO5, at 305 E Deen Still Road in Davenport, has a cluster of permits and site-plan filings moving through Polk County. The work includes installing new conveyor equipment with associated electrical, relocating an existing guardhouse and building a new one, and interior renovation of restrooms, breakrooms and a training room.
Site-plan records also describe wider improvements: a new driveway with a primary guardhouse for access from Florida Avenue, widening the truck court near the facility's northwest corner, and widening Florida Avenue to add a through-right lane. An earlier site plan added signage, striping, traffic-calming measures and a sidewalk to improve safety for workers.
The records cover the existing facility, not a new building. Some permits are active and in inspection, while others are expired or awaiting additional information.
