The old Mobil on US 98 North is becoming a Kangaroo Express
A gas station at 3437 US 98 North has been torn down and rebuilt, with new fuel tanks, a Kangaroo Express sign package and a food-service kitchen.
Records for 3437 HWY 98 N show a full makeover of a gas station owned by BNL Corp. A demolition permit for the existing Mobil was filed in May 2025 and finaled that August, and the site then moved through a string of permits: replacing the fuel tanks and piping (valued at $279,000), repairing the canopy, adding site lighting, a retaining wall and electrical connections.
The new branding is Kangaroo Express. Sign permits filed in fall 2025 cover illuminated wall signs on the north, south and west elevations plus a face change on the existing sign, and a fire-suppression permit describes installing a kitchen-hood system "at Kangaroo Express," pointing to prepared food service on site. A transit-stop bench permit was also issued in early 2026.
Separately, the state's US 98 (SR 700/35) pavement reconstruction between Griffin Road and Sharon Drive runs past this stretch of highway; that FDOT contract is a distinct road project, not part of the station work.
