Lakeland Linder Airport plans a bigger passenger holdroom
The city has submitted a concept plan to expand the passenger holdroom at Lakeland Linder International Airport, part of a wave of terminal work as commercial flights grow.
The City of Lakeland has filed a concept plan for a holdroom expansion at Lakeland Linder International Airport, at 3900 Don Emerson Drive southwest of downtown. A holdroom is the gate-side waiting area where passengers board flights, so the plan points to more room for travelers as scheduled service grows. The concept plan is listed as submitted and is still early in the city's review.
The expansion sits alongside a steady run of building activity across the airport campus over the past year, all on the same city-owned parcel. Permits on file include parking-lot canopies, an "Avelo Village" building, a Double M Aviation hangar, a second-floor administration renovation, and food-service work tied to nearby Sun 'n Fun. Electrical permits also reference Amazon.
Because the concept plan record lists only the project name and applicant, details like size, cost, and timing for the holdroom work are not yet public.
