Polk Parkway's toll booths gave way to all-electronic tolling
FDOT converted the length of the Polk Parkway (SR 570) to cashless, all-electronic tolling in a roughly $32.9 million project.
The Florida Department of Transportation converted the Polk Parkway (SR 570) from mile marker 0 to 18 to all-electronic tolling, replacing traditional toll plazas with cashless systems that read transponders and license plates. The work covered the full stretch of the toll road through Polk County.
C.W. Roberts Contracting, Inc. held the construction contract, valued at about $32.9 million. The contract was let in December 2020, work began in June 2021, and FDOT's records list the construction phase as complete with an estimated completion date of July 9, 2025.
The project appears in FDOT's Five-Year Work Program (item 440857) spanning fiscal years 2023 through 2026, managed out of the department's District One.
