County plans a potable water storage facility near Haines City and Davenport
Polk County is clearing the way for a new drinking-water storage and interconnect facility on about 10 acres in northeast Polk.
Polk County wants to build a potable water storage and interconnect facility on roughly 9.91 acres in northeast Polk County, east of Holly Hill Road and Sugarwood Street and west of Del Webb Boulevard, north of Haines City and Davenport. The plan centers on a 1.25-million-gallon ground storage tank tied to the county's PRWC (Polk Regional Water Cooperative) system for water production, treatment, storage and distribution.
The project moved through two county approvals. In May 2026 the Board of County Commissioners adopted a subdistrict map change from Institutional-1X to Institutional-2X for the site. A day later, the Planning Commission approved a conditional use for the Class III utility, allowing the water facility itself.
Both reviews drew no opposition from neighbors at the hearings, according to county minutes.
