A new sidewalk is going in along SR 544 near Lake Blue Drive
FDOT is building about a mile of sidewalk along SR 544 between Lake Blue Drive and 26th Street NW in Polk County.
The Florida Department of Transportation has a construction contract underway to add sidewalk along State Road 544, running roughly a mile from Lake Blue Drive to 26th Street NW. The work is a dedicated sidewalk project valued at about $1.2 million, carried out by Garcia Civil Contractors.
According to the contract record, work began on July 13, 2026, with an estimated completion of November 24, 2026. The project sits in FDOT's Five-Year Work Program for fiscal year 2026.
