SR 60 will be elevated over CSX Railroad tracks

FDOT is planning a grade separation project where State Road 60 will cross CSX Railroad tracks at a different elevation.

The Florida Department of Transportation has added a rail capacity project to its Five-Year Work Program: elevating SR 60 to pass over CSX Railroad tracks instead of at the same level. This type of work—called a grade separation—reduces conflicts between vehicle and rail traffic.

The project is currently in the right-of-way (ROW) acquisition phase, meaning FDOT is working to secure the land needed for construction. Fiscal funding is planned for 2027 and 2028.

What happens next

Right-of-way acquisition will proceed during 2026 and 2027. Construction is expected to begin in 2027 or 2028 pending completion of property acquisition and detailed design.
