The Cleveland Heights YMCA is getting a $3.5 million makeover
The YMCA of West Central Florida is renovating its Cleveland Heights Boulevard campus into the Bob Adams Family Community YMCA, with a fieldhouse, wellness center and refreshed pools.
The Young Men's Christian Association of West Central Florida has been reworking its campus at 3620 Cleveland Heights Boulevard through a long run of permits. The centerpiece is a $3.5 million renovation of the building, filed in October 2025, issued in March 2026 and finaled in May 2026, with Rodda Construction listed as the building contractor.
The records point to a wide refresh rather than a single project: a new playground, a fieldhouse addition with its own fire alarm system, a lap-pool equipment renovation, a rebuilt aluminum cover over the exterior pool, a patio addition, interior demolition of the historic YMCA, a "Child Watch" buildout, and a kitchen-hood fire suppression system. Sign permits name the site the "Bob Adams Family Community YMCA," along with the "George Jenkins FieldHouse" and, most recently, the "YMCA Christy Birkhold Wellness Center."
Most of the permits have been finaled, and a wellness-center wall sign was issued in July 2026, suggesting the campus is in the final stretch of work.
