Proposed, not built

Commercial project alerts for trades and suppliers in Polk County

A weekly email listing the new commercial filings in Polk County that match a project type, a stage and a city you choose, with the public record for each. It does not exist yet. This page is how we find out whether subcontractors, suppliers and brokers would use it: if enough businesses ask, we build it.

What would arrive

One email a week, and nothing on a week with no match. Each line would be a filing that is already on this site:

  • New commercial filings since the last email that match the type you chose (the same categories the project pages use: retail and dining, industrial, commercial, civic and health, housing, roads), the stage (proposed, in review, approved, permitted, under construction) and the city.
  • For each one: the project, where it is, what just moved, and the receipt: a link to the permit, the agenda item or the case file it came from.
  • Nothing from outside the public record. The site never shows the phone numbers, emails or mailing addresses that appear in filings, so the email would not either. It is a list of projects, not a list of leads.

What does not exist yet

  • The filters. Today the site shows every filing on New This Week and on the project pages, and the emails it offers (the Weekly, updates on a project you follow, and alerts near a spot you pick) do not filter by type, stage and city. Choosing those is the part that would be built.
  • The email itself. Signing up here sends you one confirmation and nothing more. If it is built, the first edition is the next thing you get. If it is not, we say so once, by email, and remove your address.
  • A date. None is promised. The decision is made on how many businesses ask within a short window, and this page will say which way it went.

Would your business use it?

Four fields. The business name is what gets counted; the email is where the one confirmation goes.

What we collect: the business name, the email, the trade or interest, and the city if you give one. What it is for: counting which businesses asked, and telling you once whether this gets built. Nothing else is done with the address: it is not added to the Weekly or any other list, it is not shared, and the confirmation carries a one-click unsubscribe that removes it.

Who this is for

A subcontractor who wants to know when a warehouse in Auburndale clears site-plan review. A supply house watching new retail in Lakeland. A broker tracking industrial land in Winter Haven. Each would set a type, a stage and a city once, and read one short email a week.

The filings come from the same public systems that feed the rest of the site, listed with what each one covers on sources & methods. A filing is an application until the record says otherwise, and the email would say which it is.

Lakelandmarks is a free civic record built in Lakeland by Summit Labs. This page proposes a feature and asks who would use it; it sells nothing and promises no date. Something wrong on it? Tell us.
