Industrial rezoning sought for 25 acres on Airport Road
Where it is. On Airport Road.
The Woods family is asking Lakeland to rezone about 25 acres on Airport Road to allow medium-industrial and limited light-industrial uses.
Woods Family Management, LLC is seeking to rezone roughly 24.93 acres at 3485 and 3515 Airport Road from LD (Limited Development) to a Planned Unit Development that would allow I-2 (Medium Industrial) and limited I-1 (Light Industrial β Limited Commercial) uses. The request runs alongside a City-initiated application to change the property's context sub-district from Suburban Neighborhood to Suburban Special Purpose, plus new PUD zoning on about 20.05 acres.
A companion City of Lakeland item would modify existing PUD zoning to remove Tracts B1 and B2 on the 20.05-acre portion. City staff reviewed the requests and recommends approval, and notification letters were mailed to 22 property owners within 500 feet. The records don't describe a specific building or business for the site yet.
The case has been continued through several Planning & Zoning meetings and is set to be heard again on October 20, 2026.
