Industrial rezoning proposed for Airport Road land
Owners want to rezone about 25 acres on Airport Road to allow medium and light industrial uses.
Woods Family Management, LLC is asking the City of Lakeland to rezone roughly 24.93 acres at 3485 and 3515 Airport Road from Limited Development (LD) to Planned Unit Development (PUD). The plan pairs with a City-initiated change to the context sub-district designation, shifting it from Suburban Neighborhood (SNH) to Suburban Special Purpose (SSP), and applies new PUD zoning on about 20.05 acres to allow I-2 (Medium Industrial) and limited I-1 (Light Industrial β Limited Commercial) uses.
A related City-initiated case (PUD26-017) proposes a major modification to remove Tracts B1 and B2 on the roughly 20.05-acre portion. Ryan Behren of Peterson & Myers, P.A. is the applicant for the property owner's requests.
All three cases are set for a Planning & Zoning hearing on July 21, 2026, where a decision is still pending. The records describe the zoning change and permitted use categories but do not yet detail specific buildings, tenants, or a construction timeline.
