The I-4 and SR 33 interchange is being rebuilt with wider lanes and a wildlife crossing
FDOT is widening the I-4 interchange at State Road 33 and adding lanes along SR 33, with work already underway through 2029.
The Florida Department of Transportation is modifying the Interstate 4 (SR 400) interchange at State Road 33, adding lanes on the interchange itself and along SR 33 from Old Combee Road to south of FirstPark Boulevard. The work also includes a pedestrian and wildlife underpass along SR 33 east of Epicenter Boulevard.
The project is being built by The Lane Construction Corporation under contract T1899, which was let in August 2024. Records show the interchange add-lanes segment alone carries a value of about $118 million, with additional segments for the SR 33 lane work (about $39 million) and the wildlife crossing (about $8.75 million).
Construction began January 6, 2025, and is estimated to finish in May 2029. The project spans fiscal years 2024 through 2026 in FDOT's Five-Year Work Program.
