Aldi is moving into the old Winn-Dixie on Socrum Loop
A former Winn-Dixie grocery store in North Lakeland is being retrofitted into an Aldi.
The grocery store at 6600 Socrum Loop Rd N is changing hands. City records show a $2 million commercial permit to retrofit an existing Winn-Dixie store, along with sign permits, electrical work, roof recovery, and fire-protection permits all tied to Aldi.
Interior demolition began under an early-start permit issued in May 2026, and the main building permit was issued in June 2026. Sign permits describe an Aldi wall sign and face changes, and later electrical and fire-alarm permits reference "Aldi #318" and "Aldi 0664." The property is owned by the Teachers' Retirement System of the State of Kentucky.
A Planned Unit Development application (PUD26-005), also labeled "Aldi #0664," was filed in January 2026 but later withdrawn. The retrofit is instead proceeding through building permits on the existing store.
