A Publix and a retail plaza are planned for Old Lake Alfred Road
Plans call for a Publix supermarket and a 9,800-square-foot multi-tenant retail shell at Old Lake Alfred Road in Lake Alfred.
Building permits filed with the City of Lake Alfred describe a shopping center called Lake Alfred Square on Old Lake Alfred Road. One permit covers Publix #2181, with a separate retail store and liquor store to be filed under their own applications. A companion permit covers a 9,800-square-foot multi-tenant shell building β space for smaller stores alongside the grocer.
The grocery parcel (901 Old Lake Alfred Rd) is listed under MEMOS FLORIDA LLC, and the retail shell parcel (907 Old Lake Alfred Rd) under 26 11 LAKE ALFRED LLC. The underlying property was set up for this kind of use: city records show the parcel's future land use was amended to Mixed Use (Ord 1555-25) and its zoning changed to C-2 commercial (Ord 1556-25), both with an August 25, 2025 meeting date.
Both building permits currently show a status of "Revisions Required," meaning the plans are still working through city review.
