Orlando Health is building a freestanding emergency department in North Lakeland, with signage and fire systems already going in.

Orlando Health is building the North Lakeland Freestanding Emergency Department at 963 Lakeland Park Center Drive, near the Lakeland Park Center retail area off I-4. The main commercial building permit was filed in June 2025 and issued that August, with a construction value of about $17.3 million and Hoar Construction listed as the building contractor.

Work has moved well beyond the shell. Records show a sprinkler system, dumpster and generator enclosures, low-voltage data wiring, and a round of exterior signage — including "Orlando Health ER," "EMERGENCY," and "AMBULANCE" channel letters plus campus monument signs — all permitted through 2026. Several fire-protection permits had been finaled by September 2026.

The records don't give an opening date. Separately, permits at the nearby 919 Lakeland Park Center Drive address (a Ross store and related work, under a different owner) appear to be for a different tenant and aren't part of the hospital project.

What happens next

Remaining inspections and a certificate of occupancy would follow before the emergency department opens; no opening date is in the records.
