Polk County permit search by address (unincorporated)

Polk County's permits are searched in the Polk County Access Portal, the county's Accela site. No account is needed: open the Building search, type the street number and street name under General Search, and open a record for its status, inspections and documents.

Which office handles this address?

The county's portal covers unincorporated Polk County and the towns that permit through it: Fort Meade, Polk City, Eagle Lake, Highland Park and Hillcrest Heights. An address inside Lakeland, Winter Haven or another city is in that city's own system; the box above tells you which.

Where to look

Polk County Access Portal (Accela Citizen Access, agency POLKCO).

  1. Open the Polk County Access Portal Building search (the link above). No account is needed to search; skip the sign-in.
  2. Under General Search, type the street number in the first address box and the street name in the second, leave everything else blank, and press Search.
  3. Open a record to see its status, inspections and documents. The "Land Dev" tab (land development records) works the same way.

What unincorporated Polk County does not publish online

  • Code violation cases: the county's own FAQ says that once a complaint is investigated and closed as unfounded, or converted to a violation case (magistrate, nuisance or bulk-waste), the information is not available to the public without an official public records request.
  • Code enforcement liens: the county answers "how can I find out if there is a code enforcement lien on a property" with two phone numbers and an email address, not an online search.
  • Closed permit files and plans: a separate "E-Records" document search, linked from the county's Building page, not the portal.

Code enforcement: Polk County Code Enforcement. The Access Portal has a Code Enforcement tab for filing and searching complaints by address; see the county's FAQ for what stays offline.

If the address is near a city line

City limits in Polk County run lot by lot, and a geocoder places an address on the street rather than on the parcel. When an address is within about 490 ft of a municipal line the box above shows both offices and says so; either office can confirm which one covers the parcel, and the Property Appraiser's record names the taxing city.

The other lookups

Lakelandmarks is not affiliated with Polk County. The links and steps on this page were checked on 7 October 2026 by opening each page; the official link is re-requested every Monday, and which office covers an address is computed from the Polk County BoCC GIS municipal-limits layer fetched 7 October 2026. Spot a mistake? Email [email protected]. Nothing typed into the box is stored.
